Like Documentaries? Then You'll Love the 3rd BUDOFEST!

What do you think?
3rd BUDOFest (Bicol University Documentary Festival)
The Bicol Organization of Neo-Journalists (BONJour) will be spearheading the 3rd Bicol University Documentary Festival (BUDOFEST) at Pacific Mall Cinemas 1 and 2 on January 18-19, 2012.

BUDOFEST is an annual event organized by the Bicol University AB Journalism students to honor amateur Bicolano documentarists. With the theme "Y4MDG: Youth for Millennium Development Goals", this year’s BUDOFEST aims to prop up social development and responsibility by rousing the youth to get involved in attaining the Eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of the United Nations.

After receiving entries from all over the Bicol Region, six documentaries will premiere at the BUDOFEST screening dates:

Semi-Pro presents "2K15: Kilos Kabataan Para Sa 2015"
             Salungguhit presents "ABAKADA + 12"
             Rush Hour presents "Dugo"
             One Heart presents "Sa Amin"
             Journforce presents "Tinapay"
             Malebug presents "Yawa"

Entry screenings will be held at the Pacific Mall Cinemas 1 and 2 this coming January 18 and 19. Screening time is 7AM to 9AM with reruns from 9AM to 11AM.

Tickets are only Php 50.00 and are good for two screenings! If I was in charge, I would charge little more than this seeing as all of them are really amazing and well-crafted. I’ve gotten the privilege to watch the entries in advance and I must say that 50 Pesos is already a killer deal. The documentaries are all high-quality and it would be a shame if you missed this cinematic experience.

BUDOFEST tickets are available at the Budyong Office located at the 4th Floor, Multi-Purpose Building, Bicol University and at the ticket booths outside Cinemas 1 and 2 at the screening dates. For tickets and inquiries, you may contact the following numbers: 09206528827, 09226384246 or 09169923162. You can also e-mail BONJour through their e-mail:

Also, the BUDOFEST Awards Night will be held at the Bicol University College of Arts and Letters (CAL) Amphitheatre on January 19, 2012, 7PM.

The following awards and prizes will be given at the said ceremony:

               First Place (P15,000.00)
               Second Place (P10,000.00)
               Third Place (P5,000.00)
               Fourth and Fifth Place (P2,000.00)

What do you think?

Budyong, the official student publication of Bicol University College of Arts and Letters and my second family, will be joining the 12th Region V Press Conference that will be held this week January 12-14 at LRV Agri-Science Farm Resort, Calabanga, Camarines Sur. It's a three-day gathering of college campus press members organized by the Bicol Association of Tertiary School Advisers (BATSPA).

Here's the official correspondence from BATSPA:

"The Bicol Association of Tertiary Schools Publication Advisers (BATSPA) Inc. together with the Bicol Association of Student Campus Writers will hold its 12th Region V Tertiary Schools Press Conference at the LRV Agri-Science Farm, San Bernardino, Calabanga, Camarines Sur on January 12-14, 2012 with the theme: “Transformative Campus Press and the Filipino Character”.

Anent with this, may we invite your school to actively participate and allow official representatives from your institution to attend to this annual event which will convene at least 150 brilliant and talented campus journalists and publication advisers from the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Schools, Colleges and Universities (SUCs) Bicol wide. This will highlight Group contest and Individual contest categories. CHEDROV Regional Director Dr. Freddie T Bernal will be the conference keynote speaker.

For the past 11 years we were supported by HEIs/SUCs and other schools in our thrust to have press conferences among tertiary campus writers in the Bicol region. This gathering of campus writers will be competing to the various levels in campus journalism and will represent the Bicol region to the 11th Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference on February 2012 in Balanga City, Bataan."

To represent the Bicol University College of Arts and Letters, Budyong has comissioned only the finest, most skilled taffers to compete in the press conference:
  1. Yours truly

What really excites me about this whole affair is not only the fact that it's the biggest annual gathering of student press members, but also the venue is just divine. No, I haven't been to LRV Agri-Science Farm yet but basing from the wonderful photos from their website, it's safe to say that the place is pretty badass.

Here's some photos off their website, :

Really hoping all of us could break through the Top 5. Fingers are crossed and eyes are set on Bataan! BUDYONG FTW!

And The TCS Six-Word Stories Contest Winner is...

What do you think?
First of all, I'm really sorry that I sort of forgot to declare a winner for the TCS Six-Word Stories weeks ago. I was almost completely indisposed this Christmas.

Anyway, the winner of the the last Six-Word Stories is: (drum roll, please) CESAR INOCENCIO! Congratulations! You just won 30 Pesos worth of load! Donald Trump must be rolling on the ground somewhere right now. I'll have your mobile number loaded sometime within this week.

I'll be posting another Six Word Stories Contest topic later. So watch out!
